Dreaming of Becoming a K-pop Idol: My Struggles with Self-Introduction

I really want to become a K-pop idol, but I’m not sure how to introduce myself properly.
When I think about auditions or meeting new people in the industry, I feel a little lost about what to say.
I want to show my true personality and passion, but I also wonder if there’s a right way to introduce myself — something that sounds confident, natural, and memorable.
Another thing I worry about is whether I should introduce myself in Korean or in English.
I want to show respect by speaking Korean, but I also want to express myself clearly and naturally in English.
Sometimes I get nervous just thinking about it.
I know introductions are important because it’s the first impression, and I really want to do it well.
I’m practicing, but it’s not easy to find the right words.
I hope with more practice and experience, I’ll be able to introduce myself proudly one day.

Hi! First of all, it’s amazing that you’re thinking so carefully about this — it already shows how sincere and passionate you are!

Self-introductions can definitely feel overwhelming at first, especially when you want to make a strong and natural impression.
Here’s a little advice to help:

  • Be Simple and Honest: You don't need to say a lot. A short introduction that shows who you are and what you love is often the most powerful.

  • Smile and Show Your Energy: Sometimes, your attitude and warmth leave an even bigger impact than your exact words.

  • Practice a Few Key Sentences: For example:

    • "Hello, my name is [Name]."
    • "I’m passionate about singing and dancing, and I dream of becoming a K-pop artist."
    • "Thank you for this opportunity!"
  • Korean or English?

    • If you know basic Korean, even a simple Korean greeting like "안녕하세요" (Annyeonghaseyo) or "제 이름은 [Name]입니다" (Je ireumeun [Name] imnida) at the start would show great respect.
    • After that, you can continue in English if it helps you express yourself more clearly and confidently.
    • Showing a little Korean effort, even just a few phrases, can really impress people!
  • Remember:
It’s not about being perfect — it’s about being genuine, positive, and memorable.

You're doing the right thing by practicing, and over time, it will feel more natural.
Believe in yourself — one day soon, you’ll be introducing yourself with pride and confidence!
