K-pop vocal audition recording
Hey everyone!
I’m getting ready to record my vocal audition, and I had a quick question.
Do I need to sing the whole song, or is it okay to just do one verse and a chorus?
I’m thinking of picking a slower song that shows my vocals better, but I’m not sure if that’s a good idea.
Any advice from people who’ve auditioned before would mean a lot!
Hi there! Thanks so much for your question—and it’s great to hear you’re preparing for your vocal audition!
For most K-pop auditions, it's absolutely okay to sing just one verse and one chorus—in fact, that’s often preferred. Judges are usually looking for a quick and clear sense of your vocal tone, control, and emotional expression, so keeping it short and impactful works well.
Choosing a slower song can be a great idea if it really highlights your vocal strengths. Ballads or slower pop songs often allow you to show off technique, pitch accuracy, and emotional delivery. Just make sure the song suits your voice and lets your personality shine through.
Also, don’t forget to warm up your voice, check your audio quality if you’re recording, and most importantly—sing with confidence. You’ve got this!
Wishing you the best of luck with your audition. We’re cheering for you!
