What should I do when my pitch is unstable?

I try to practice singing consistently for 1-2 hours every day. I’m working hard, but I often go off-pitch when singing high notes. How can I hit high notes without losing control? Could it be my vocal technique that’s the problem?
Please share your tips and methods for practicing singing!

If your pitch is unstable, don’t worry—it’s something you can improve with practice and the right techniques. First, always make sure to warm up your voice before you start singing. You can do things like lip trills, humming, or sliding between notes to gently prepare your vocal cords.

Breath control is super important too. Make sure you’re breathing from your diaphragm, not your chest. A good way to practice is by taking a deep breath so your stomach expands, and then slowly exhaling while holding a note. This will help you stay steady on pitch.

For high notes, try not to force your voice or push too hard. Instead, think of lightening your tone as you go higher and aim to use your head voice—it’s easier to hit those notes without strain that way. You can also practice exercises like sirens, where you slide from a low note to a high note smoothly, like the sound of an ambulance.

It’s also helpful to practice with a keyboard or an app that plays the right pitch. Sing along with it and really focus on matching the notes. If you can, record yourself and listen back to spot where you’re going off-pitch.

Oh, and one last thing—don’t overdo it! Singing for 1–2 hours a day is great, but make sure to take breaks so you don’t strain your voice.

Keep practicing little by little, and don’t stress about being perfect. You’re doing great just by putting in the effort! 😊
